I thought I’d only get one opportunity to photograph a Fogo Island Inn Elopement. When Larissa and Jordan reached out I couldn’t believe I was going to get to visit this beautiful island again. The weather was significantly warmer this time around, but very windy. This made for some beautiful photographs and opportunities for ice cream at Growlers which is some delicious homemade ice cream made right on the island. I loved breaking up the day into sections. We had the morning ceremony and portraits and then we took a break. A crazy stormed rolled in and we all hunkered down inside to watch the storm. My kids loved it!
In the evening I drove back to the Inn and met up with them for another quick session. We honestly didn’t think the weather would change again but it did and we were so lucky to witness a beautiful sunset right over the water as the clouds broke. It was such an incredible day with an amazing couple! Here’s some more from the couple:
What was most important to you when planning your elopement?
We wanted the entire process to be as easy and stress-free as possible. We always knew we wanted to have a very small wedding, and so in light of the pandemic, and difficulties associated with trying to coordinate family travelling to Toronto for even a small wedding, a private elopement on Fogo Island seemed ideal.
How did you choose your location?
We travelled to Fogo Island as part of a trip we took across Newfoundland in 2016. It was the first trip we ever took together. We visited Fogo Island Inn but didn’t stay there, but knew we wanted to have the full experience one day because it seemed like such a special place (and it truly is). When the pandemic hit and we decided to elope, we knew Fogo Island Inn would be the perfect location!
Most memorable part of the day?!
Taking a hot tub/sauna break post-ceremony! Also, going for ice cream at Growlers and taking photos with Break, the Inn’s resident Newfoundland dog :).
