I didn’t know what to expect when arriving at Gayle and Daniel’s Waterloo Region Museum wedding. Photos online don’t do the grounds justice. The large open space surrounded by trees was the perfect ceremony spot. They incorporated some traditional Jewish elements but made them unique by having the groomsmen carry the chuppah down the aisle together and hold it during the ceremony. Gayle had her talented sister design all the stationary and signage and it was beautiful.
How did you chose your venue?
We love the outdoors and wanted to have an outdoor ceremony surrounded by trees, so it was really important to us that our venue have a lot of outdoor space and nature. We like venues that are unique or a bit quirky, so we also wanted to find a non-traditional venue. Open space is hard to come by in a big city, so we started looking at venues in my hometown, Waterloo. The grounds at Waterloo Region Museum were stunning and perfectly fit our vision, and we fell in love with the wall of windows and natural light the reception space. The uniqueness of a museum venue sealed the deal.
Any wedding planning advice you’d like to share?
Before doing anything else, think about the type of wedding you want and decide which elements are important to both of you, and then focus on those things. Don’t forget to enjoy your engagement! Being engaged is a fun and special time in your relationship – pause and take it in.
Talk about your wedding day fashion and beauty look. How did you find your dress?
I had always pictured myself wearing a lace dress, and I wanted to be able to move freely in it. I loved this dress because of its intricate details (from Loversland by Rue de Seine) when I first put it on, but I knew it was the one when my bridesmaid said it looked “historic” – perfect for a museum wedding!
