With a July weekend free from shooting weddings, we decided to go camping at Philip Edward Island on Georgian Bay with some friends. We canoed to a small island off of the main island, which we had all to ourselves. Philip Edward Island and the surrounding islands are such an incredible area to explore, with some of the oldest rock in Canada and a short distance to Killarney Provincial Park. Since the island itself is considered crown lands, no permits are required and you can set up camp anywhere you like.
We spent the days lounging on the soft rock, which are surprisingly extremely slippery, and exploring around some of the other inlets. It’s a kayaking paradise and we definitely want to head back there. It was a great weekend to unplug from city life and fully embrace the warm Canadian summer evenings.
