Loryssa & Leo’s Romantic Storys Building Wedding

Loryssa and Leo’s wedding was perfect. They wanted to be intentional with their wedding by focusing on a few decor elements that they did themselves and left the rest up to the professionals. Tellie from Hunt & Gather Floral filled the space with beautiful flowers and the tables were lined with greenery and candles. The reception lighting should be the standard for reception lighting: a good mix of candles on the table and overhead string lights making for beautifully lit candid reception photos. I was also so happy to hear they booked a slot for portraits at Knox College at U of T, with a beautifully lit corridor leading to a sophisticated indoor space, I was able to create some of my favourite portraits. I wanted to share absolutely every single image from this day and it took me quite some time to narrow down images to share. Enjoy! This wedding was featured on Junebug Weddings.

How did you chose your venue?

I’m an architectural historian so I knew we needed to have our reception in a historic building. I came across some photos of the Storys Building, booked us an appointment to see the space and it was love at first site. We didn’t even go see any other venues because we knew it was the one right away.

Did you DIY anything for your wedding?

Leo has a background in graphic design so he designed all of our stationary from our invites to our menus, seating chart, the architectural prints we gave out to guests, and the eclairs we gave out as party favours. One of my best friends also did the calligraphy for the seating cards at our head tables.

What was the most memorable part of the day?

While the ceremony and actually being announced as husband and wife was absolutely amazing, the most memorable moments were the ones in between all the busyness when we got to be alone and really take in what was happening. Sitting at a table just the two of us during dinner really gave us the chance to reconnect and appreciate how out of this world the day was.

How did you chose your wedding photographer?

We came across Jess at Daring Wanderer on Instagram and instantly fell in love with her moodier style and her use of light and dark contrast in her photos. Since Leo’s a web developer, he has a very strong opinion about people’s websites, so we checked out Jess’s and after it got his stamp of approval, we Skyped with her and instantly got along and knew she was the one we wanted to capture our special day.
