Wild and free smoke bomb portraits at dusk was just what I needed to get myself out of a creative rut. Sometimes all you need is a couple willing to trust you in documenting something real, unscripted and profoundly beautiful. Human connection is what drives me creatively. The connection between individuals, between me and my subject, between me and my surroundings. All of these help to guide me when creating. I constantly have to remind myself that the moment I remain stagnant, is the moment I die.
We hung out on the beach, talked about life, our travels and watched the sun set together. The wind was fierce and Melissa’s emerald green hair whipped in the air while the waves threatened to soak our shoes. All of these images were shot in less than 10 minutes.
